I work for an MSP and among the services we provide is email hosting and DNS management. Over the past two weeks we've had at least three different clients who have had email problems introduced because some web host or developer changed their site and took control of DNS for the client's domain, which naturally broke their MX records and caused an email outage.
You would think that someone who manages web sites all day as a full time job would have run into the problems that changing your DNS like this can make. DNS is such a critical service, why does it seem like so few (web hosts and developers in particular in my experience) actually understand the impact it can have?
